Warner Bro’s DC Comics are Launching 6 Million Trading Cards with Redeemable NFTs

Just like various huge companies including Nike, Gucci, and Redbull, the famous film production company Warner Brothers announced developing DC comics-inspired physical trading cards paired with redeemable NFTs.

Although pretty groundbreaking, this news comes as no surprise after the avalanche of major companies entering the web3 world.

In collaboration with the card and board game manufacturer Cartamundi, Warner Bros. recently launched into the NFT scene with 6 million DC Comics trading cards with redeemable NFTs that will be available later this month.

These hybrid trading cards will come in many shapes, featuring 155 different superheroes. They’ll be priced from $5 to $120, allowing different users and fans to unlock the DC multiverse, collect, trade, and buy cards of their favorite superheroes.

Since trading cards have always been a fan favorite, combining them with the extreme enthusiasm of collecting NFTs is a magnificent idea. This provides an unusual opportunity for the fans to engage with their favorite characters and interact with other collectors.

Through a mobile app called HRO, buyers will be able to access the physical cards’ NFT components. Each card will come with a unique QR code that connects it to its digital twin on the app. HRO is a new platform that will combine blockchain technology together with a physical in-store presence, merging the physical and digital world for the first time.

“HRO gives DC fans, crypto enthusiasts, and trading card collectors a first-of-its-kind opportunity to step into a deeper fan experience and enter their gateway to a new era,” said Ann Viaene, CMO of Cartamundi.

The DC Hybrid Trading Card Packs

The DC hybrid trading cards are expected to hit the shelves and digital wallets later this month. The drop will include 6 million physical cards with accompanying redeemable NFTs that will come in both common and rare versions.

They will be available in six different Cards Display Unit (CDU) packs:

  • 7-card Flowpack.
  • 2-pack.
  • Premium 2-pack.
  • Premium 4-pack.
  • Starter 8-pack.
  • 24-pack.

Packs will range from 7 cards to 168 cards.

The redeemable DC comic NFT cards are being minted on the Ethereum-based carbon-neutral Layer2 sidechain, Immutable X.

Warner is also planning to issue a few limited-edition cards using imagery and characters from the latest hit DC Comics movie, “The Batman,” starring Robert Pattinson. More limited-edition content is expected to be featured throughout the year.

Fans will also be able to build collections of rare DC art and movie collectibles, delve into the terrific DC content, compete on leaderboards and in challenges, and unlock unmatched experiences.

Conclusion

Warner Brothers burst into the NFT scene with 6 million DC Comics trading cards and their redeemable NFTs. They announced their partnership with Belgium company Cartamundi, which is the worldwide leader in playing cards, to design the cards.

Both the physical cards and their digital twins will feature 155 different DC superheroes and are expected to be available for purchase later this month.

This is a huge step in the comics world. Combining the digital world with the physical world shoots up the possibilities like never before for events like WonderCon and Comic-Con. Just think about how these creative initiatives can make use of the metaverse. Gareb Shamus, the founder of Comic-Con and one of Lee Richter’s prominent clients, is currently making NFT comic books. And that’s only the beginning.
