I was just in a masterclass on how to build your following and boost engagement on Instagram that had a lot of amazing information and I wanted to share it with all of you!  Here is a bullet list of all the tips I received in this masterclass.

• Social Media is a 2 way street, not a 1 way street.  Engage with your followers by responding to comments, DM messages, doing lives and engaging with your viewers, answering their questions and giving them shoutouts.
• Instagram is transitioning to a future with Lives, short videos(Reels) and IG stores. Pictures and Quotes are not working very well and not getting shown to followers as much, therefore low engagement.
• Utilize the filters, and trending music and sounds for reels, look for the music and sounds with the arrow pointing up because that means it is going up in trending.
• Reels need to be educational and entertaining
  • Instead of sharing carousels, take that content and create a reel and add the info into the reels as words on the reel.
  • EDUCATE & ENTERTAIN IN YOUR REELS, those will receive  the most engagement and be shown in the Explore pages.
• Always share your reels on your story…to increase story engagement, add a poll or a question to the story to encourage more engagement and responses.
  • With stories, by adding questions and polls to your story, they will engage, and then the IG algorithm will notice that engagement and in turn share your content more to them.
  • Instagram algorithm looks at your story engagement in 3 ways to determine whether you are a person of interest..
    • # of replies
    • How many reactions
    • How many people engage with you

*As this increases, IG will then start sharing your content to more people 

• Bigger accounts tend to get their content hidden due to lack of engagement, smaller accounts tend to get shown more and higher engagement.
• DMs work as well, communicate with people because that shows Instagram you are actively engaged with your followers, and it will show those people your content.
